Ian Cargill

Finance Director

Ian Cargill delivers accountancy and financial strategic consulting with the Linkubator team.  Ian has his own accountancy practice business, and manages the annual accounting and taxation requirements of a portfolio of small and medium sized clients, handling both the personal and corporate finances of owners and managers.  He has also acted as a Financial Director / Chief Financial Officer for several SMEs for over 15 years.

Ian Cargill is a highly knowledgeable Financial Director and Financial Controller, with direct experience and involvement in a number of new business start ups.  His steady, skilful influence in all financial and accounting areas is greatly valued, not only by the companies with which he works, but also by blue-chip private equity investors such as Crescent Capital on whose behalf he keeps a watchful eye on certain investee companies.  In 2005 Ian was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Avalon Instruments Limited, a Belfast based company engaged in the development and marketing of Raman Spectroscopes to worldwide markets.  Ian was invited by Crescent Capital, venture capital investors in the company to assume control of the financial systems and management of the company.  Ian provided a full and comprehensive financial management service – from the bookkeeping requirement, provided by the resources of his accountancy practice, to reporting to the directors at monthly Board Meetings.  During this time Ian was involved in reviewing Avalon’s business model, and strategic direction, culminating in the decision to sell the business.  He was part of the management team that subsequently negotiated the successful sale of the business, in August 2006, to Perkin Elmer, a US based company with worldwide revenues of $1.5 billion.

Ian is also an experienced presenter, with the ability to make complex economic and financial issues clear to audiences unfamiliar with the subject.
